Blackberries – Part I
My friend and I were walking down by beach the other day and came across a ton of blackberry bushes. Of course, we began eating as many as we could get our hands on – which is quite hard considering all the sharp barbs! He said we should have gone home to get a bucket to collect them in, so I could bake something with them – of course. We didn’t, but I had gotten the idea that I wanted to go back down, with a bucket this time, to pick some and bake with them. Needless to say someone was happy with the idea of me picking blackberries and baking with them. So a few days later I decided to go down, with Lainey, and pick a whole bunch. Usually you see people with old ice cream buckets collecting them, which is a good idea, except we don’t eat buckets of ice cream and don’t have any around. So, a big Tupperware had to do.
Lainey and I set out early in the morning down to the dyke on the beach to pick some blackberries.
It was nice and sunny – at 8 am. And the berries are just waiting to get picked!
I think Lainey was more excited for her walk along the dyke than the berries.
Beautiful British Columbia – Along the Coast and the tide is out
All the juicy berries are in the back – out of reach!
But I managed to get my hands on some!
Lainey investigates the berries. Yup, their good.
Stay tuned for what these delicious berries get baked into!

Can’t wait to see what you bake. I’ve still got 2 gallons frozen and I’m looking for something new to try. I’ve posted 4 recipes for them already and still have one to blog about. All were great, but I still haven’t used up all my berries. : ) That’s a pretty good problem to have though, don’tcha think?

haha thanks ‘friend’
Michele: I’m definitely going to see what you’ve baked so far! I hope this recipe helps you get rid of all your berries! You should freeze some for the winter, they would be good for muffins, or even to make blackberry sauce for pancakes and waffles! I think I’m going to go down and pick some more to freeze next week! Definitely a good problem to have too many berries! Always a good excuse to bake =)

I love blackberries! I don’t think I could resist eating then all before they would end up in a baked good though. I can’t wait to see what you’ve done with them.

Ingrid: Hope you’ve gotten your berry fix now!! haha. I’ll have to see what you’ve baked.
Steph: Yes i love them too!! I had to put a note in the fridge so my brother wouldn’t devour all the blackberries before i could bake with them!! haha.

If my doggies were with you, they would be fighting you for the blackberries – they both love them!!! When we go for a walk, if there are ripe berries Niki will even ‘pick’ some herself!
