Hi! =)

Hi all!

Sorry I’ve been terribly MIA. I’m away at school, as you know, and it’s been tough keeping up! I did plan on updating with recipes I had previously made and pictured, but even that is becoming too much to handle! I’m in the middle of midterms, and although I have baked some delicious cookies for my roommates and I, they were all eaten before I had a chance to picture them, or before I even turned around =)

I am however, going home for reading break and the olympics this week! Back to the mainland, ie. Vancouver. And of course Valentine’s day is right around the corner! I’m planning on making something special, So hopefully I will be able to update a new post!

For now try out these Valentine’s Day Cupcakes with Fondant Hearts I made last year! A cute and yummy way to show someone your love!

DSCN0861

And my 51st blog entry!! It’s taken a while to get here, but I’ve made it halfway to 100 posts! Since I don’t post everyday it’s taken 10 months to get this far haha. But there’s more to come =)

So this post is about a few random things I’ve done over the past week. Ice Cream & Fish. Yes that’s right. Not together I should add. This last week I went to Victoria, on Vancouver Island to visit some friends and go up to Port Alberni to a friends cabin to do some fishing!! I had never really been before so I was looking forward to it. A couple days before we left my friend Justine and I ventured to Wal-Mart for a random shopping spree. We found a 20$ ice cream maker that we just had to buy! And now that I’m home I really want to go out and buy one myself!! (although I probably shouldn’t.. haha.)

So I don’t have a recipe for this post, well unless you own an ice cream maker and you wanted to make Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, like we did. Man, was it good!

Here are a few pics of the ice cream, my first catch!! A 21 pounder! And, cooking in a little floating cabin without electricity, a fridge, or warm water. However, we did eat pretty good! We caught a sockeye for dinner, some crab, fresh oysters and I even brought along my crepe pan for breakfast!

It Don’t Matter If You’re Black or White – Cookies

chocolate chip9

As everyone knows one of the greatest performers, and King of Pop has recently passed away. After yesterdays event, of his memorial ceremony I wanted to dedicate a post to him. I remember being in grade 7 and being absolutely in love with Michael Jackson! My friend Amanda and I were obsessed at 13 years old! We loved all of his music, and I remember after school we would go to each others house and listen to all of his music and have dance parties. We thought we were sooo cool listening to MJ. I remember for Amanda’s birthday I really wanted to get her something to do with Michael, so I went looking in town for a gift. The only music store in town was a small CD store that had old and new CD’s and music posters. I remember finding two, now thinking back I wish I had bought one for myself as well! I finally decided on one of them, it was a collage of pictures of MJ and I can still picture it today. Actually, I sorta wished I kept it! haha. But birthdays are about giving!..and not to yourself. But today I bought a People magazine to have a small memorial of him and his life. I loved all his music, and my friend and I would watch all his music videos on our old computer, waiting patiently for it to download! My mom actually saw him in concert, and now wishes she had kept her ticket stub! ( this is why I keep all of mine! You never know! )

So today while I was shopping I needed to pick up ingredients to make cookies for an upcoming trip! Tomorrow morning I’m heading up to Merritt for the Merritt Mountain Music Festival. For all you non-canadians, or even non-BC’ers it’s a four day event of country music in the interior of BC. Lots of concerts and cowboys!! Im super excited to go, and Im leaving tomorrow morning veryyy early with my friend Justine! She’s been before but I haven’t! So I’m looking forward to it! And I promised her baked goods!

While I was at the store I had Michael in mind and came up with the idea of black and white mini chocolate chip cookies. Because as Michael said “it don’t matter if you’re black or white” (more…)

Happy Birthday to Me!

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

Alysha & Myself ( Alicia! ) Cannery Princess’s. We share the same name and birthday! 20 & 21! I am now legal in the states! =)

So June 5th was my 21st Birthday!! The whole day was so much fun! First off, I went to see my cousin before his Grad all dressed up in his suit! Complete with a pink shirt, very sharp. Then I met my friend for a pedicure and starbucks! Then shopping, lunch and finally out for dinner with family to The Cannery Seafood Restaurant! For those of you who don’t live in Vancouver, The Cannery is one of the best restaurants in Van! It’s right on the water and “Since 1971 The Cannery Seafood Restaurant has maintained its outstanding reputation as a prime Vancouver dining destination in one of the busiest ports on the North American continent.” It is amazing! I love seafood, so it was a great choice! I didn’t even know where we were going until we got there, it was a surprise! Here are a few pictures of the restaurant and the delicious food we ate. (more…)

Mini-Me Valentine’s Day Cupcakes

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

These little babycakes are a smaller bite sized version of the larger one I made. I got a mini cupcake tin for christmas and I’ve been dying to try it out! So I thought I would save some batter and make mini ones too. These little ones are perfect to take to school, or to give away!..or to eat. Your call. Use a small star tip to make them look like flowers on top, and sprinkle with mini hearts!

Ingredients:

Batch of Devils Food Cupcakes

Directions:

Pour cupcake liners 3/4 full. Bake about 15-20 minutes until set. Allow to cool completely in tin before removing, you’ll want to make sure you dont squish them trying to get them out. These babies are small and delicate!

Pipe icing on with small star tip to make ribbons or flowers. Sprinkles with hearts and place a small fondant heart cutout on top. Send immdediately, with love. These look like a little garden of love!

Deliver some love to someone today, with a small token of affection!
