Oh hey, today’s my birthday.
Another year older, another year wiser – I’m officially 1/4 of a century, so I’m thinking that’s even more wiser.
25 isn’t necessarily a milestone birthday, unlike 19 (in Canada), 21 (in the US), and 30 (as in how old Adam will be next year 😉 ) You can read about how it’s a ‘milestone’ birthday in our family here. Either way, it still feels pretty special.
My 25th year has brought lots of exciting events with it – Graduating last summer, earning my Teaching Certificate for elementary school, travelling to Europe, and moving into our first house together.
25’s already looking good – Adam and I booked a getaway to Vegas at the end of the summer. I celebrated my 21st, 22nd, and 23rd in vegas. No vegas last year because I went to Europe – I felt we were overdue for a visit. Definitely looking forward to the heat, lounging by the pool & walking the strip.
Tonight I’ll be celebrating with Adam – going to dinner somewhere local, then a no holds barred visit to Menchies for a fully loaded frozen yogurt indulgence. Last night we celebrated with family & lots of cake, and next weekend I’ll celebrate with friends at our place. Adam gave me an early present a couple weeks ago, a shiny new Schwinn bike! We’ve only rode them twice, and both times it started to rain. Hmmm..
Most importantly, today I’ll be celebrating with you! Seeing as how it’s my 25th, I thought I would give away some $25 prizes! Four in total – a $100 giveaway! It’s my first giveaway on the blog too.
I’m happy to say that my friends at iHerb have given me two $25 shopping sprees to give away! I wrote about iHerb here. iHerb has over 35,000 products online including groceries, baby products, health products, and beauty products.
Bonus: If you’re a first time iHerb customer you can use Coupon Code WOW123 to get $10 off your first iHerb order with a minimum $40 purchase (whether you win the giveaway or not.)
AND I purchased a couple items myself to give away.
- A $25 gift certificate to Chapters! You can use it in-store or on-line (they ship to the US, and there is free shipping over orders of $25) They have lots to choose from including home goods, and of course cookbooks (my favourite.)
- A copy of the Wheat Belly Cookbook! The popular book Wheat Belly has come out with a second book – a cookbook with wheat-free recipes. After finding out about my wheat allergy last year, I’ve completely cut it out from my diet. This book is awesome – so I picked up one for me, and one for you!

Hi!
Happy birthday Alicia! 🙂
A cookbook that my mom and I use all the time is called “The Looneyspoons Collection” by Janet and Greta Podleski – it’s fantastic! All of its recipes are easy-to-follow and delicious! They include “Nutrition Nuggets” that tell you about the nutrition facts of each recipe.
My favorite birthday dessert would have to be birthday cake itself! Or birthday cupcakes 🙂
I’m all entered! Fingers crossed! 🙂

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! Saw on instagram that you are already celebrating so that is fantastic. Hope you are enjoying all this amazing sunshine we have been having!!
I have actually been eyeing the wheat belly cookbook for quite some time now, absolutely loved the book – I dont agree with everything but love it regardless. Favourite bday dessert.. CAKE of course! Any cake, all cake 🙂
Thanks!!! it was definitely a great day for a birthday! I haven’t actually read the entire book haha – I only bought the cookbook because I love all the wheat free recipes.
I have quite a list of cookbooks on my wish list with Picky Palates book being up on the top of the list. My favorite birthday dessert is a warm chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and hot fudge – yum!
Forgot to mention that I’ve followed and liked.
Wheat belly cookbook and chocolate avocado mousse.

I would like to get the Curtis Stone cookbook. I like DQ ice cream cakes for dessert.
Hmmm…don’t think my comment worked. Try again 🙂
I haven’t bought myself a cookbook in probably over a decade, I do really want Jamie Oliver’s Meals in Minutes though. Happy Bday. I remember 25. Thought the world was ending lol. My next birthday I will be 40. Ouch.
lol! I had the same thought.. hehe. Thanks for entering! Hope you win to cookbook! Or maybe GC =)

Happy happy birthday, Alicia!
The cookbook I recently bought and have enjoyed is “100 Recipes Every Woman Should Know” by the editors of Glamour magazine. I love the tongue-in-cheek recipe titles (ie. “I’m So There For You Eggplant Parmigiana”). The recipes I’ve tried have always turned out well and they aren’t too difficult. A definite buy!
My favorite birthday dessert is Black Forest Cake… so yummy and decadent!
Thanks anastasia! That sounds like a great cookbook!
Happiest birthday to you…!!! and this IS a special day because you are now officially vintage, my girl;)
I would love to have the book High Protein Vegan by Hilda Jorgensen because I am trying to make healthier raw and vegan choices, but still get my ever needed protein crave on. Seems interesting!
Also.. fave bday dessert… i’m not huge on sweets but i love a good cheese cake!! (or fresh, fluffy hot cinnamon buns, when it’s not my birthday;)
I’m also following you on Pinterest! (BruiseViolet) http://pinterest.com/ABakeaholic/
I would like to purchase a copy of either Wheat Belly or maybe Gwyneth’s cookbook
I’ve tried to reply to my winning email 4 times and each time it gets kicked back as undeliverable. I do want to claim my prize 🙂 Do you have another email I can send my info too please? Thanks!!
